ENGLEWOOD – When it comes to hot tub quality, think Colorado. Wind River Spas leads in four categories in the annual hot tub quality study released Monday by Hot Tub Consumer Guide, a research company and consultant to Colorado’s Hot tub Manufacturers.

“Wind River’s rise to the top of the rankings is only the latest sign of the improved overall quality and declining number of defects in today’s spas and hot tubs,” said Rick Hallett, owner of Wind River Spas. There is still a tremendous gap in quality and features when you compare the big-box stores such as Home Depot, Lowe’s, Costco and Sam’s.

These discount spas are mass-produced and quality is sacrificed in the name of savings.

“The California brands are so close in terms of quality that the differences are almost meaningless,” Hallett said.

He said that means buyers will pay increasing attention to dealer service, new technology, ergonomics, price and efficiency.

Once known for being the small Hot Tub manufacturer from Colorado, Wind River Spas is outperforming its California rivals in this year’s survey, based on interview’s with hundred’s of people who bought Spas in 2006-2007. Hot Tub Consumer Guide asks buyers to rate all aspects of their spa, from purchase to the ownership and overall experience.
